Wheeler The Bunburyist

Please welcome Wheeler the Boykin Bunburyist to the blog!

For about 6 months the husband and I have been searching the U.S. for a Boykin Spaniel puppy, and we finally found one! We received a call on Sunday from a breeder in Atlanta that had 5 female pups, and we had been selected to get one, yay!! So we immediately went out and bought a collar and leash that very day (we also have 80lbs of puppy food stocked up in our living room)!

Since we got the call on Sunday we have been anxiously awaiting pictures. So this morning at exactly 6:30 a.m. my overjoyed husband wakes me up with his laptop in hand telling me we have pics of Wheeler! To say the least - we are very excited about our new addition.

Now we do not know which pup is actually Wheeler, but one of them is her! On May 30th we will bring Wheeler home to MS.

If you are wondering where the name Wheeler came from...my husband grew-up fishing on Wheeler Lake in N. Alabama.

A Bunburyist Baby Shower

This past Sunday I hosted my very first Baby Shower! It was great way to Bunbury, and I have been planning it the moment my friend told me she was pregnant (I live by the motto - Fail to plan; plan to fail)! I had a friend help me host, and together I think we did a pretty good job.

We kept the menu pretty simple. Just cake, fruit, pineapple cheese ball, toffee cheese ball (this was a mix), nuts, and mints. We didn't have punch, just water and lemonade. I suppose if I had a fancy punch bowl to use then we probably would have had punch!

My favorite cheese ball in the world is the one I made here, and it is so easy!

(2) 8 oz. packages of cream cheese

5 oz. crushed pineapple (drained)

1/4 cup finely chopped bell pepper

2 T. finely chopped onion

1 T. seasoned salt

2 cups chopped pecans

Mix everything but 1 cup of pecans together and shape into a ball. Then roll ball in the remaining cup of pecans.

And my new favorite kitchen gadget is V-shaped cutters!! I will never cut fruit with a knife again!


Yes, I made a diaper cake, and yes this is the first time I have ever made one. I can't take total credit for the diaper cake. My sister, the preacher's wife & expert on showers, gave me step-by-step instructions on how to put it together. My Mom assisted with the bow making, so it was definitely a a joint effort!
