Dear Pioneer Woman,

You are making me fat.  Your recipes are so delicious and your pictures are so enticing, I just have to cook and consume your tasty foods.  I actually start salivating every time I open your cookbook.  I am slightly obsessed.  Yes, I am admitting I have a problem.  To cure my obsession, I decided to cook all or most of the recipes (depending on how much weight gain is involved) in your cookbook.

Recipes cooked thus far:

1) Sherried Tomato Soup - AMAZING.  My MIL suggested pouring it over penne and grilled chicken - must try this soon.

2) Comfort Meatballs - I was comforted.

3) Olive Bread - Substituted artichokes for black olives.

4) Chicken Fried Steak - Got in a hurry and left out a few major steps.  It was barely edible.  Will try again.

5) Simple, Perfect Chili - The name sums it up.

I need to be cured...

Sincerely,
your slightly obsessed and weight gaining fan

Freezing in MS

The temperatures in MS have been below freezing for a week!!  We southerners haven't known what to do!  Thursday the University was closed due to snow and icy conditions, which meant the husband and me had a day off school/work.  I can't ever remember having a snow day.  Being from LA, snow is an unknown concept!  I get rather excited about the possibility of snow, and Thursday morning I woke up to this...

Of course the first thing we did was to put Wheeler outside to see what she thought of the snow.  I think she liked it!  She ran around and tried to catch it in her mouth.

Then today we had a few more flurries. So we took Wheeler to the pond, which is frozen solid, and let her play.  She was a little confused at why she couldn't walk on ice, but she quickly got the hang of it.

Merry Christmas!

So, I am ahead of schedule and blogging about Christmas before Feburary! I love love love Christmas (mainly because I have two weeks off from work)!  Bunburying is easier and more frequent while off work! Shopping, watching movies, reading, and cooking served as my perfect escape.

Christmas was a little different this year...it was the first time that my sister wasn't home on Christmas Eve and Christmas morning.  I know that is just part of growing up and when you have two little ones it's difficult traveling, but that didn't make me miss our traditional Christmas eve and morning any less!  We still had a great time with mom, dad, Granny, and Wheeler (of course)!  And sister and family did come Christmas Day!

Look! It's a real live Commander Rex bobble head!

H is a mommy!

After a few days in LA we packed up and headed to NA (North Alabama). We almost drove the length of the state in one day!  Lots of bunburying is always in store when we visit NA.  There was game playing, baking, movie watching, reading, puzzle putting together, and lots of good ole fashion lounging around!  It was  perfect!

I leave you with this...

Wheeler loves Christmas too!!
