bye-bye blank wall

Remember this blank space in my bathroom that had the weird mirrors on either side of the tub?

Well now I've added this shelf and these pictures.

I found the frames at Dollar Tree.  Did you know that EVERYTHING in Dollar Tree costs $1?!  AMAZING.  I sprayed painted the frames white and found scrapbook paper at Walmart to frame.  The total project cost around $6.00!

Fabric Dilemma

I have decided to tackle reupholstering this chair...

maybe... Or I might decide to have someone else reupholster the chair...

Currently the chair serves as a catch all for clean clothes awaiting to be folded.

The chair is in our bedroom for now.  However, I think it would look great in a living room one day.  I only want to reupholster the chair one time, so the fabric I choose is crucial!  Here are a few swatches that I found at http://warehousefabricsinc.com/.  Feel free to let me know which one is your favorite!  I can't decide!

New Stuff!

Two weekends ago my wonderful in-laws came to visit and brought me a few pieces of furniture that belonged to Nana (the husband's grandmother).  One of my favorite things they brought is Nana's hope chest!!  We are now using the chest as a coffee table, and I absolutely love it!  I wish I had thought to take a before picture...  The husband and I sanded, primed, painted, painted, painted, and sanded and this is how it turned out

I am very pleased!  I love how we scuffed up the edges and sides to age it some.

I'm on the prowl for two pulls to go on the front.  I plan on doing some rummaging around in Hobby Lobby this weekend, hopefully I will find some and they will be 50% off!

In recent  discoveries, I have found that this

doesn't go well with this

and the result is lots and lots of dog hair on top of my new coffee table! Should have known better than to have a white coffee table with a chocolate colored dog...they don't mix well.

In other news I made this

while the in-laws were visiting. It was heavenly!  Not so sure where the rest of it went!  The icing was so simple, yet so good. Just mix the following together:

32 oz powdered sugar
lots of finely chopped strawberries
1 cup butter (softened)

If too thick add more strawberries, if too thin add more powdered sugar.
